Our Editors ensure that the PILJNZ continues to meet its high editorial standards. The Editorial Board is broadly divided into Citations and Style Editors. The editing process involves research (source-finding), citations editing, style and argument editing and article formatting (house style).

Becoming part of the PILJNZ Editorial Board will greatly improve your legal research and writing skills. No prior editing experience is required as the Editors-in-Chief will provide all the necessary training. If you possess sharp legal reasoning and writing skills, a keen eye for detail, conscientious work ethic, and willingness to learn — we want to hear from you! Editors working on other law journals are also encouraged to apply.


Applications are open to all students completing an undergraduate law degree at any New Zealand law school.

To apply for an editorial position, applicants are required to email the following documents with the subject heading “Editor Application – [your name]” to

  • Completed editor application form;
  • Edited extract; and
  • Academic transcript (unofficial transcript is sufficient).
